devil

her with her fiery red hair: she is the devil.
her:
with your warm snake - once mine - coiled about her neck:
her!

with your mouth clenched tight, I heard you.
HER.
the truth moves across the rocky, broken-down terrain that is my heart to find me, to hold me, to soothe me.
truth holds my hand as I weep.

my fingertips have never felt so cold.

I cannot love as I have loved,
And yet I know not why;
It is the one great woe of life
To feel all feeling die.

A Mad Girl's Lovesong by Sylvia Plath

I shut my eyes and all the world drops dead;
I lift my lids and all is born again.
(I think I made you up inside my head.)

The stars go waltzing out in blue and red,
And arbitrary blackness gallops in:
I shut my eyes and all the world drops dead.

I dreamed that you bewitched me into bed
And sung me moon-struck, kissed me quite insane.
(I think I made you up inside my head.)

God topples from the sky, hell’s fires fade:
Exit seraphim and Satan’s men:
I shut my eyes and all the world drops dead.

I fancied you’d return the way you said,
But I grow old and I forget your name.
(I think I made you up inside my head.)

I should have loved a thunderbird instead;
At least when spring comes they roar back again.
I shut my eyes and all the world drops dead.
(I think I made you up inside my head.)

passing you bye

Pouring into my brain like wine, I'm intoxicated with memories of you..
And me.
And your name is jagged against the roof of my mouth and tears it like wet tissue to the touch.

And I know that you still love me. I know that you still watch me with those deep dark lovely eyes. Increasing in size as they penetrate more deeply into my soul.
You watch the way walk, talk and do things with great interest. You extract my fibers quickly, with great eagerness, each time that I pass -
this sheet of glacier, cold and unaffected.

You blame this on him.
On anyone but yourself, you claim.
Its theft, you say.
The price you've paid. For
The sword embedded in my beating muscle.

At once, the tiny, swiftly moving ants of your broken ant farm swarm my body until
I am pure blackness.
Until I am the color you wish to paint me.
You hate me.
You wish to break me.
You want nothing more than to erase me.

But these razor-sharp claws of pride.
Are all I need to pass you bye.

And in the dark, I can hear your heartbeat
I tried to find the sound
But then it stopped and I was in the darkness
So darkness I became

I took the stars from our eyes, and then I made a map
And knew that somehow I could find my way back
Then I heard your heart beating, you were in the darkness too
So I stayed in the darkness with you

The Women (2008)

Catherine Frazier:

"It feels like someone kicked you in the stomach, feels like your heart stopped beating, feels like that dream you know the one when you are falling and you want so desperately to wake up before you hit the ground but its all out of your control, you cant trust anything anymore, no one is who they say they are, your life is changed forever, and the only thing to come out of the whole ugly experience is no one will be able to break your heart like that again."

DRACULA

Today, the truth awoke me
like a tambourine smashing into the side of my face,
but my face was numb.
I'd realized this awakening had been anything but rude.
The aching that I felt, the constant displeasure which rang into my ears
like that fucking song that won't stop playing
on every radio station, and every stupid fucking car
insists upon blasting it, since that'd be the only opportunity I'd have to hear it,
since I don't own a car, nor know how to
drive
nor, care for the goddamn brainwashing, monotone, and thoughtless lyrics which resonate
from each dumb radio station,
anyway.

Well, someone finally shut that noise off.
Clear-headed, peaceful, and quiet -
the emptiness poured into each orifice of my lifeless body.
The silence rained over me soft and heavy like snow.
I mean, it had to be snow,
because my hands and feet were cold enough to turn my tears into ice.

Not that the crying struck me as strange,
I'm fairly certain an emotional outpour and overall loss of control are standard responses to such a
life-changing event.

The sun and moon had vanished and the world appeared void of color.
The streets were somehow empty and the cars were empty too.
Nowhere was there any sign that I had company,
and nobody would want to join me,
anyway.

I'm harsh, freezing, and unpleasant -
but this you already knew.

So, I woke up because the overwhelming silence was too much.
Only in a divine quiet like this can you hear your thoughts thundering ever so loudly,
and I've struggled with my longing,
unbreakable desire,
to escape the noise within my mind.

But, I guess the ultimate task was just to listen,
and listen,
carefully.

The thoughts echoed, screamed, and even stuttered,
sang, whispered, and grunted,
endlessly, and continuously.
Perhaps they all were the voices of ghosts
who've longed to wake me up from my seemingly never-ending slumber.

Oh, perhaps..

Perhaps, not.

Today, the truth revealed itself,
as honest as can be.
And I found myself trapped and cold,
trapped and cold,
alone.

I wandered through this empty world, cold and wet, to boot!
I wandered wearing nothing more, since I now hated all I owned.
Nothing made much sense anymore, also.
Why would I wear a sock, or a delicate coat of mascara?
When the streets were swarmed with emptiness,
and ghosts inside my head.

Everything was ugly, and I couldn't feel the wind.
There wasn't anyone to speak to, so my empty words
became replaced
with empty stares.

The words I longed to speak, however,
sloshed around my mouth fiercely,
and tickled my tongue,
as if these words were mouthwash,
cleaning the crevices of my teeth and gums.

I walked into the church and I wondered why it remained
the only lit establishment as far as my eye could see.
I sat down and I waited
for days, and months,
but seconds are all that passed.

I thought, but then my thoughts, they screamed
so I decided to shut the fuck up.
The truth atleast would set me free,
but it caged me once again.
I knew that this was not a dream,
and I wasn't asleep inside my bed.

I stepped deeper into the holy floor,
and felt my footprints sink in.
As if the floor were made of clay, or playdoh,
my existence here was real.
The ground was soft and entrapping,
but I did not let it stop me.

If the truth had wanted to meet me,
then the truth would have its way.

In front of me, my eyes they teared, but froze immediately on my skin.
I felt this jolt within my spine, my body was wearing thin.
I persisted moving, slowly, yet firmly,
and licked my sticky cold lips.

I looked, I saw,
I noticed...
this shiny, black, smooth,
casket.

Now my body swayed towards it.
Now I could not turn around.
I wished that I was still dreaming.
I wished for lies again.

The truth was in that casket,
the truth was mocking me.

I peered inside that casket,
the air grew muskier with a bitter fog.

The taste caused my mouth to salivate,
I felt I had to puke.

For, joy had overcome me.
I was finally at one with the truth.
I looked inside that godly casket,
and inside was but a mirror.

The truth was firmly implanted in
the ridges of my brain...
the delicious ridges which I longed to
devour,
piece, by fleshy
peace.

LOVE IS A COMPROMISE.

but I can't compromise with that.
when, to you, love is a verb.

and, yet, to me it's a euphemism

for lust.

and if the dictionaries to which we define our versions of love vary, does love stand a chance or is it a mere convenience for us to blindly agree to disagree for the sake of our seemingly infinite moments of intoxicating, elevating, and interconnecting intimacy and romance which makes two become one?

would you say that compromise, or change, is the price of love?

& is this a discount, deal or bargain?

or, are we losing ourselves in the process of partaking in this highly overrated, societal past-time called love?

are we so desperate to acquire this deemed "necessary" essential function of life called "love," (the intimacy and procreation) that we compromise our entire beings and lose our individuality to which, and only through which, we identify our true selves and obtain a grander degree of self-worth?

or, has love broken down our self-attributed, self-developed foundations of self-identity on purpose and for the purpose of finding a deeper and more impenetrable degree of self-value which can only be acquired through seeing oneself through the eyes of that person who loves us?

do I love myself more because you love me?

or have I created for myself this, distinct character - built upon your desires and, molded according to your character... and has this ultimate newly developed character of mine..well, has it become the real me or the modified version of me? and can I truly say I love myself more after I've changed? is it really me that I love? or do I love the me that I've become because of your love? do I only love me because you love me?

do we really have to change ourselves so that we can love each other, or accept one each other's love as true? are we not allowed to love differently? and if the prospect of separate perspectives of love risks the possibility of miscommunication and overall a disconnection between two lovers, well, is love truly worth the selfless sacrifice of individual identity? and when does constant compromise and change become tedious and exhausting? when does changing oneself stop making a difference, or when does the difficulty in the grueling effort of changing oneself surpass the motivation to change? and when this occurs, when love once seemed worth the death of who you are, is it even worth changing ourselves for love? when love itself is void of the guarantee of "forever?"
and can the person to whom change is uncharacteristic ever truly accommodate to this price of modification in exchange for true love? what if you can't respectfully change yourself?is it really love if a change must be in order anyway?
is love a mere convenience for you, because it's a swift, smooth and simple change for you, anyway? because your questions are minimal and your thoughtless acceptance is great and greatly increasing..

or are we just plain different and no degree of love can ignite a synthetic change strong enough to sustain a relationship?

or...

am I just ruining this for myself? am I questioning this thing I should appreciate because I refuse to make a compromise which may or may not jeopardize the epitome of who I am and what I believe in? is change such an issue when it's for the sake of something as magical and irreplaceable as love? is merely saying "the price of love is too high for me and too much of a constraint for me, because I'm unstable, unstructured, and complicated" enough? do my consistent and unrelenting questions make me such a complicated individual?

you say complicated...
I say *divinely intricate*

to me, love is the question
to you, love is the answer
within me, love is digression -
from the old me, faster and faster...

if the proper functioning of love requires the compromise of an entire being, how can love and its lack of guarantee, be worth such a change?

"Within you, I lose myself
Without you, I find myself
wanting to be lost again..."

backwords.

It's a difficult thing for me to comprehend.

Your looks make my looks

- look back again.

Defying gravity and natural form,

my neck bends strangely,

I've transformed.

I'm searching madly for your glance.

But my neck and eyes meet

in this awkward dance.

Desperately, I pray you do not catch my gaze..

I'm sweaty, unhealthy, and blinded

by this hell-bound haze.

You shudder - your eyes trace my frame.

I'm panting heavily. I'm

not the same.

Disgust paints your face like sunlight.

You're glorious, but

- I can only smell the night.

I inhale your fear, you're sensing danger.

Its driven me wild, now.

I'm even stranger.

Alas, my invitation has been retracted.

I'm the deadliest virus

you've ever contracted.

Heart's beating quicker, or slower; Beats me.

I'm the addict; you're my liquor. Your power

defeats me.

Distances increase, now. Separations ensue.

You'll stand for no more. But

I'm not daring you.

You've gone. Afraid. But, your shadow's back.

Its taken your place, its got courage

- you lack.

For; faint similarities cannot be replicated,

your shape, face and smile - this shadow

has desecrated.

May the disgusting sunlight of your face,

destroy this imposter. But in digust

 is in my taste.

Though I'm hydrated, I'm still thirsty.

This obsession with you, makes me

feel so dirty.

Disgusting and deformed, I shall study your being.

I'm creating your existence because,

'Believing is Seeing.'

The S.H.E.E.N.A. System of Dating:

Based on one of my favorite T.V. shows, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, I contemplated my dating techniques and after much observation, complied a list of steps that I unknowingly routinely subject men through during the dating game.

The S.H.E.E.N.A. System of Dating:

Seduce them.
Hook them in with flirtation.
Entertain them with witty humor.
Employ "hard-to-get" tactics.
Neglect them emotionally.
Avoid them entirely.

And thats why I'm single! I lose interest in people & literally get distracted (thanks, ADHD!) I realized, that many of my steps emulate that of Dennis' (of It's Always Sunny in Philadeplphia) But, unlike him, all of these "steps" are NOT premeditated & I'm just naturally a cold frigid bitch.

What I've learned:
Dating is a tedious game & silly wabbit games are for kids.

Left to my own devices..

I get bored.

"Anytinggg por seleeenasss!"

I'm feeling a bit chongalicious.

a.k.a. I hate my bangs & I wish they would grow out already!

My naughty knotty hair woke me up...

So I tamed combed it.

(after cheat week) comes the actual New Year's Resolutions....

New Year: New Me.

[ [ . success . is . the . key . ] ]

What I plan on accomplishing in 2010 starting this moment forth:
(1st Week of the New Year = Cheat Week)

1. Now that I've finally gotten complete closure from a terrible element that once plagued my life, my goal for the future is to maintain separation from him. I've changed my cell phone number and blocked him on Facebook. Hopefully, that'll erase any possibility of any future harrassment from him -- if not, I've promised myself to press charges against him and file a restraining order against him.

2. Now that I've managed to get myself on the Dean's List, I plan on maintaining my position and getting back up to a 4.0 GPA. (since Math derailed me off course with a B- last semester) School will now be my number one priority and I will work more dilligently and be more motivated from this year onwards. Thus, all homework assignments must be completed immediately after my receival of such assignments & studying for exams and the completion of all possible extra credit assignments are absolutely imperative. Also, I will pursue any available internships or ePermits to save time & reach my graduation date more quickly.

3. After my dilligent hard work and motivation in my academic success, comes my second priority; my body. For years I have battled with yo-yo dieting, and from this year forth I plan on figuring out a successful method of maintaining a healthy weight cohesive to my goal of improving my level of self-confidence. I plan on losing weight not simply by dieting -- since I've learned failed diet after failed diet, after failed diet, that exercise is the absolute key element for my individual progress in weight-loss. So, instead of making dieting & cutting calories a main priority, I've made exercise, a full 8 hours of sleep or more a night, and consistent and proper hydration (H2O!!) my main objective.

4. Also, I've learned that my spending habits are utterly deplorable. I've got no concept of the importance and value of money and for this reason -- coming hand-in-hand with my weight goals -- I've decided that only ONCE A WEEKEND, will I allow myself to eat-out or order-in. I will cook all my meals at home and go home for lunch/ carry a lunch bag to school. All my money will now be placed in my savings account. Also, only if possible (if my school schedule permits it) I will seek a part time job perferably on the weekends to add to my savngs & work on building my credit!

5. To better assist me in my weight loss goals I'll need a new gym membership. I will also seek a nearby yoga center to honor the memory of Anil Uncle (by following his wishes) and to get spiritual cleansing.

6. Although I live in the city, I need to drive to Queens often. Thus, I must go to the DMV & get a Learner's Permit ASAP & begin working towards getting a license & building up those savings to buy a car!

7. I've come to learn that the most prevalent condition of my diagnosed ADHD is that I become very easily distracted. So, I've decided to try and reduce the "possible distractions" by putting love and the possibility of it aside until I've reached a mature point in my life where I can take a break from working on my future to even fathom a love-life possibility. Also, any socializing will be done on only weekends and drinking will be cut down to an absolute minimum of only one glass of red wine a night & for only on the weekends. I shall not permit myself to consume any other form of alchohol, no beer, liquor, champagne, etc. ONLY wine & on occasion.

So far, the above is an incomplete compilation of goals I plan on accomplishing. I will add to it & update my progress accordingly...

& Hello, Adriana Lima, may I be you?

LISTEN DON'T HEAR

You can't look at me with your toxic eyes; they burn...
as they enter me by surprise, whispering words I can't discern.
You deceive me with your prolonged stare and disrobe me of my virtue.
I repeat, I repeat, 'this isn't fair,' but you say 'I already heard you.'

Then your fingertips - whose rough texture confirms your manhood -
gently graze my sweaty palm, so that my fear is understood.
Your dark and intense gaze roams freely, reveling in my mercy...
you hear my words through quivering lips; you hear 'you make me thirsty.'
With just your eyes, you drown me, and I'm praying you don't hurt me...
I tell myself you can't control me, but its too late now: you heard me.

Jafar

A book once notified me of a woman named Emma Bovary who sought after love and its entire splendor to such a degree that all other aspects of the world were left undefined behind her weary eyes. Written by the immaculate author, Gustave Flaubert, he says: “She was gasping for love like a carp on a kitchen table gasping for water.” Now, this book I had read a while ago, but those words pierced the very inner core of my heart. It was her pure honesty which killed me. She was so determined to find love and passion and so entirely honest about her fantastical ideology that it gave me chills! I was not quite as clear and concrete, I was the disturbing split persona – a gust of confusion clouded my ability to see clearly. Not to mention, I was the lethal combination of two incompatible compounds: the longing for love and the inability to love. Like water and oil, they could not coexist and I couldn’t break free of them since they seeped deep within each pore of my skin. They settled there and refused to depart. For, ages ago I’d felt this trauma; this poorly named fantasy called love and I could only blame myself. My unwillingness to accept the love of another human being without question had resulted in its tragic demise.
I had a love which –as many people in love would say – words could not define, and countless serene moments of passion couldn’t dare illustrate. This morbid disillusionment utterly transformed me in every which way. I was certain that love was the most powerful force in the universe. Love was indeed what I had heard – I thought – it was pure and gentle and revolutionary. But, truth be told, it wasn’t much deeper than the puddle which sits immovably upon a jagged street after the rain had passed. I grew up just like Emma and possibly millions of little girls – fantasizing of this love depicted in fairy tales and children’s books. Comprised of unfortunate misconceptions and unachievable goals which plague our minds as early as childhood, it convinces us that indeed we shall find our everlasting love and be rescued by our prince-charmings. I was holding on to that fraction of reality – until I gained the painful knowledge and wisdom that is the truth. At the end of my rainbow there was no pot of gold; there was an empty charcoal kettle with a note which read “I told you so.” Because as much as many will view these ideas as pessimistic, I somehow knew that love cannot exist without hate, and pleasure cannot exist without pain; and ultimately, I was right. I reveled in the validity of my intuitions, and tormented at the destruction of my pride. The flame of passion and love within me burnt so brightly and so fiercely that I had inevitably gotten blinded and burnt, simultaneously.
Happiness and love are but a painful memory for me now. As much as I’d like to frolic about in my façade, I cannot any longer. It’s easy for me to decipher the first and only relationship I’ve ever had as a part of maturity, and even a learning experience which helped me grow – but the lessons that I’ve learned are like the scars on my body. Like the big one on my knee – when I learned that skateboarding is a boy’s sport. That I am but a weak girl unable to obtain the strength of a man whose disregard of physical blunders help him accomplish any goal. No, again, a weak and underminable poor excuse for a human being am I, and that lesson proved it. JUst like the one of love - I again get hurt because I lack the strength to avoid the pain. Lessons are but the constant reminders of painful experiences that I’d love to forget, but cannot. The lessons will never vanish – and the lesson is a difficult one. See, I’ve learned that solitude is safety, and that I was right all along to avoid an experience like love. I’ve learned that after years of the relationship’s failure, I’ve managed to cut off all contact with the monster, and yet my heart pines for him ever so painfully. Like a stomach which growls for food when you are hungry, its always lunchtime in my heart.... As it pines away for the only love I’ve ever known and will ever allow myself to know.
It’s that split persona again – where I am fully aware that he is no good for me, that the countless ways in which he’s hurt me and left lasting scars on me both physically and mentally are unforgivable; and yet I cannot explain the loneliness inside me and my hungry heart which cries for him. I remain so unbreakable on the outside, with an iron shield so impenetrable, yet I’m constantly swallowing my pain. After years, he’s still the only man I had ever loved or desire to love. I cannot fathom it! If I were a broken winged bird when we first met, he literally healed the wing that was broken to only rip apart the other one. I thought I had only benefited from the experience of loving and losing, but I had never actually allowed myself to grieve, I suppose. And now, like a debilitating whirlwind its hit me, and I find myself so utterly torn. So utterly torn I am by the one man who said he loved me, and that same one man I viewed as my prince, my Aladdin, my everything! And just like that I gave him everything and set aside my pride to cater to another human being and accept this thing called love.
No, I must admit, I cannot blame women like Emma who succumb to their fantasies and whims of romance. I actually envy her. She’s the crisp romaine lettuce without the heavy dressing. Pure and honest – she wears her heart on her sleeve. I, on the other hand, am draped in heavy dressings which cover up the real me – the frightened, and the lonely girl who cannot escape this pain she so desperately tries to hide. I lock away my heart in a castle far away – and just like a fairy tale, the castle doesn’t exist. My heart does not exist, you see. It’s been broken and the dull beating that I hear are only the footsteps of the former, happy me – walking away from this mess I’ve become. I feel destroyed and alone. The man who I so carefully tried to please and keep beside me – had transformed from prince to villain. The truth of my fairy tale is this; I was never courted by a prince. Unlike Aladdin, the man who disguised himself as a prince was the evil villain of the story – it was Jafar!

Wednesday, March 11, 2009

The sky is red like blood that drips from a broken heart. The borders of the clouds are squiggly red branches of an eye thats cried one too many tears. Merciless is the dawn that causes so much pain; as the cruel clouds begin to hide the bright and joyful sun - outcasting it like a society raised on hatred and intolerance. Darkness covers the earth like a cold and heavy blanket. Cold and lonely is the night.
